Wind barrier

Semi-permeable wind barrier was designed and patented by Ponting within the Črni kal viaduct project. The southern reagion of Slovenia, the Karst, is beaten regulary by very strong winds Bora, from nord, and Jugo from south. To assure safety on the existing and future highways in the region, Ponting was contracted to design a suitable wind protectin.

The wind barier was designed with use of sofisticated computer technology based CFD analysis, special software and tested in a wind tunnel on the real scale model. The barrier was then succesfully used on other highway sections and bridges arround the region and on the even more exposed highway sections of Croatian Adriatic Motorway.
